Early Abandonment
The Early Abandonment settings help you to determine the number of years a patent could be in force. For example, the default maintenance term of a patent is 20 years. However, if a user decided to abandon a patent 5 years before the term, i.e., by 15th year, that can be en-tered in the Early Abandonment screen. Entering the early abandonment term and running the desired reports could very well impact the portfolio costs.
